Registration is open for a town-sponsored CPR course to be held at the Middlefield firehouse Saturday, Feb. 9.
Participants will learn basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation during the 90-minute program. The course will be taught by volunteer fire captain Steven Tyc.
The class is capped at 20, but Tyc said the department is open to holding more sessions. “Ultimately, we’d like to see everybody trained in this … as many as possible,” he said.
The course will be an abbreviated version of an official CPR course, and won’t include testing or result in certification.
Participants will learn adult, child and infant CPR and choking relief, as well as how to respond to a cardiac event.
Residents can register online through the Middlefield Park and Recreation department, which is sponsoring the event. Participation is $25 per person and all ages – generally 10 and up – are welcome.
