WALLINGFORD — A local woman faces a DUI charge after she reportedly struck two parked cars and fled during the early-morning hours of New Year’s Day.

Cherlyn Gill, 56, of 3 Nod Brook Road, was charged with driving under the influence and evading responsibility. Her bond was set at $2,500.

On New Year’s Day about 3 a.m., a  driver, later identified as Gill, struck two parked cars on South Side Terrace and drove off, according to police.

After an officer received a description of the suspect vehicle, he conducted a traffic stop on South Colony Road. The car, being driven by Gill, had damage consistent with the reported incident on South Side Terrace, police said.

Gill failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
