WALLINGFORD – Eversource Energy is scheduled to begin installation next week of a 16-inch gas main along the Route 68 bridge over Interstate 91.
The project is part of a larger, $14 million project that involves replacing more than 17 miles of gas line on Route 68 from Wallingford to Middletown, Eversource spokesman Mitch Gross said. The project began in June and is expected to be completed in 2019.
The bridge project will begin on Monday and conclude on Nov. 17, the state Department of Transportation said in a statement. Work is scheduled to take place Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers can expect lane closures on both sides of I-91 at Exit 15. Traffic signs will be in place for the duration of the project.
“Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity,” the DOT statement said.
