WALLINGFORD  — A masquerade ball and networking event today in Branford will benefit the family of a town woman who recently died from cancer.

The Business Behind the Mask Masquerade Ball will feature vendors, entertainment, food, and raffle prizes. Proceeds will be donated to the family of Michelle Borelli, who died in May, and the Smilow Cancer Hospital.

Event Organizer Victoria Grattan came up with the idea as an opportunity for local businesses to network. She decided to donate the proceeds to the Borelli family when she heard about Michelle’s story. A mother herself, Grattan felt a connection.

“When she (Borelli) passed away it hit home because she had a daughter,” Grattan said.

Natalie Sagnella, a friend of Borelli, said the event will be a great opportunity to help the family.

“It’s a great thing for people to get together to celebrate life and to celebrate Michelle,” Sagnella said.

The event is at The WoodWinds banquet hall, 29 Schoolhouse Road, Branford. It starts at 5:30 p.m. and admission is $40. Grattan said more than 20 vendor businesses are scheduled to attend and there will be entertainment, prizes, and food.
