Wallingford police: Cheshire man charged with DUI after driving recklessly in front of officers

WALLINGFORD — A Cheshire man faces a DUI charge after police said he “burned out” in front of two officers on Route 68 late Monday night.

Frank Boemmels, 32, of 344 Jinny Hill Rd., Cheshire was also charged with reckless driving.

Boemmels spun his tires, creating smoke in view of two officers while on Route 68 at about 11 p.m., according to police reports. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.  He was later released on $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 11.
