WALLINGFORD — A Cheshire man faces charges after police say he struck another person’s car with a hammer during an alleged road rage incident on Thursday.

Edward Anderson, 35, of 34 Grove St., Cheshire, was arrested Thursday and charged with breach of peace, second-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree criminal mischief.

Police responded to Citgo, 326 S. Colony Rd., for a report of a road rage incident, according to police. The incident began between Anderson and another driver on Route 15, with each driver claiming the other drove with intent to harass, the report said. Anderson and the other driver exited the highway in Wallingford and Anderson struck the other driver’s car with a small hammer, the report said. Police found a hammer in Anderson’s possession, the report noted.

Anderson was taken into custody and later released on $10,000 bond. His court date was not immediately available.
