Authorities continue to investigate after pregnant woman struck in Wallingford Friday night

WALLINGFORD – A woman and her unborn child were listed in stable condition after she was struck by a vehicle on North Turnpike Road Friday evening.

Police Lt. Cheryl Bradley said investigators believe weather and visibility played a part in the accident. Light snow fell and accumulated across the area Friday night.

Bradley said Saturday that the woman and her unborn child remain in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The mother suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The woman, who was struck while crossing the road with a child, was unconscious when authorities arrived at the scene, 83 N. Turnpike Road (Route 150), near Knollwood Drive, shortly before 5 p.m. The woman later regained consciousness and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

The child was not injured. A section of the road was closed while authorities investigated.

No one has been charged in the crash.
