Wallingford man charged with third-degree sexual assault

WALLINGFORD — A local man faces charges after he reportedly groped and kissed a woman at a local business in May.

Mario DiNatale, 73, of 10 Sunset Drive, was charged Aug. 30 with third-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct.

On May 21, a woman filed a complaint regarding an incident at Center Street Wine and Spirits, 382 Center St., according to police spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl Bradley. The woman said DiNatale, the owner of the business, asked for a hug, which the woman consented to.

A short time later, DiNatale hugged the woman tightly,  groped her while maintaining a hold on her, and forcefully kissed her, Bradley said.

DiNatale turned himself in after learning there was a warrant for his arrest. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on Sept. 13.
