WALLINGFORD — A New Britain man faces a DUI charge after police said he drove across the median on Interstate 91 and crossed into oncoming traffic on Sunday.
Anatolii Krutei, 29, of 111 Beaver St., first floor, New Britain, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive in proper lane.
Krutei was driving on I-91 near exit 13 around 6 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center median and drove into oncoming traffic in the southbond lanes, state police said. Police noticed Krutei had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
I-91 south was closed for about an hour on Sunday while police investigated.
Krutei was later released on $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 31.
