WALLINGFORD — A North Haven man faces charges after police said he was found asleep behind the wheel of a smoking and damaged vehicle at a gas station on Woodhouse Avenue on Saturday.
Michael Wagner, 53, of 31B State St., North Haven, was charged with DUI, four counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to submit to chemical testing.
Police responded to the Pit Stop gas station, 66 Woodhouse Ave., around 7 p.m. for a report of a vehicle that was heavily damaged and smoking, according to police reports. Officers found Wagner asleep behind the wheel and heroin and prescription pills in the vehicle , the report said.
Wagner was released on $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 8.
