Police: Wallingford man charged with DUI after striking utility pole 



 

WALLINGFORD — A local man was charged with DUI after he struck a utility pole early Wednesday. 

Justin Doehr, 25, of 175 Mansion Road., was also charged with failure to drive in proper lane.

The car Doehr was driving struck a utility pole near the intersection of Masonic Avenue at Quinnipiac Street around 1:50 a.m., according to a police report. Doehr told police he was distracted by a text message on cellphone, the report said. He also them he drank four alcoholic beverages before the crash, the report said.

He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, the report said. A breathalyzer test showed a high blood alcohol level.

Doehr was released on $5,000 bond and is due in Meriden Superior Court on March 13.
