Wallingford man faces weapon, drug charges after traffic stop



WALLINGFORD — A local man faces charges after police said he was found with marijuana and a BB gun in his car during a traffic stop. 

Nabeel Nassar, 22, of 100 N. Cherry St., was charged Wednesday with possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper headlights and driving an unregistered vehicle. 

An officer stopped a vehicle Nassar was driving on Route 5 for a headlight violation around 10 p.m. and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to police reports. The officer searched the car and found marijuana, smoking devices and a BB gun that resembled a real pistol. 

Nassar was taken into custody and later released on $1,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 30.
