WALLINGFORD — Local residents Kelley Breyer and Frankie Maderia say they are trying to educate the community about healthy eating through their new nutrition counseling service.
The registered dieticians started K and F Nutrition with the focus on an “individualized” approach.
“We wanted to start a nutrition counseling service because we see so many unqualified people doing the wrong thing,” Breyer said.
The program offers counseling services for clients looking to lose weight, build muscle or manage nutrition. Sessions are offered in person and online.
In their work at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, the pair has seen more and more people develop chronic illness because of bad nutrition.
“We see so many things (at St. Vincent’s) that could be prevented,” Maderia said.
After a few months, they have a group of clients and an online presence through their website, blog, and social media. K and F Nutrition has also partnered with Body Temple Fitness, located at 20 North Plains Industrial Road, to provide counseling for members of the gym. Breyer said she hopes it will be the first of many partnerships with area gyms.
“Right now we are starting slow,” Breyer said. “As more opportunities become available we hope to partner with more.”
