Wallingford police: Man hid lobsters underneath car at ShopRite

WALLINGFORD — A local man faces a shoplifting charge after police reportedly found lobsters hidden underneath his vehicle at ShopRite on Tuesday night.

William Condon, 51, of 92 William St., was charged with sixth-degree larceny, improper use of marker, registration or license, operating without insurance and operating under suspension. He was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 12.

Police responded to ShopRite, 846 N. Colony Road, about 6:30 p.m.  for a report of suspicious activity. When officers arrived, they found lobsters hidden underneath a man’s car, according to a police report.

The man, later identified as Condon, was also charged with motor vehicle violations, the report said.
