Branford police: Wallingford man threatened to blow up TD Bank branch

A Wallingford man has been charged after police said he threatened to blow up a Branford TD Bank branch.

David Poulton, 72, was charged with first-degree threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree breach of peace. He was held on $10,000 bond.

Poulton allegedly threatened TD Bank corporate customer service to “blow up” the bank’s branch at 1003 W. Main St. after his checks did not clear, Branford police said in a statement.

The branch was notified and evacuated, police said. Officers located Poulton with assistance from bank employees, who stated his car was en route to the bank.

Poulton was not found with any explosive devices or weapons.
