WALLINGFORD — A local man was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to exposing himself near a school bus stop last year.

Edward Buijnarowski, 72, of 1126 Yale Ave., pleaded guilty Tuesday to public indecency, two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and one count of second-degree breach of peace. Buijnarowski pled under the Alford Doctrine, meaning he does not agree with the facts alleged by the prosecutor, but chose to accept a plea deal rather than go to trial.

He was sentenced to a three-year suspended sentence and two years’ probation. Conditions on the probation include no contact with the victims in the case, no unsupervised contact with children under 16 years old, 10 years of sex offender registration and treatment, and to comply with any treatment recommended by probation.

On Sept. 26, 2017 the father of an 11-year-old girl reported that Buijnarowski had been acting suspiciously near a bus stop for weeks. The father told police Buijnarowski stood outside on several occasions, either behind a tarp or an open car door, and appeared to be masturbating while watching children at the bus stop, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.

The next day, the father obtained video showing Buijnarowski masturbating while standing outside of his home in plain view of two children, ages 11 and 12, at the bus stop, according to Bradley.
