WALLINGFORD — Police are investigating after a resident found a loaded revolver on Buttonwood Circle near Highland Avenue Friday night.

Police responded around 6 p.m. after a woman found a Rock Island Armory .38 revolver with a holster nearby, police spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl Bradley said. The revolver was loaded with six rounds of ammunition.

Police removed the gun and found it was not registered or reported stolen.

Police are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to trace and determine the history of the firearm, Bradley said.
