WALLINGFORD — A Hamden man was seriously injured when he was ejected from his vehicle in a rollover crash early Monday on South Colony Road.

The crash occurred near Pickett Avenue around 2:10 a.m. A 2007 Hyundai Accent driven by Alex Rodriguez, 33, of Hamden, crossed over into the southbond lanes, left the road and struck two utility poles before rolling over, said Lt. Anthony DeMaio.

Rodriguez was found by a witness lying on the embankment between the road and train tracks, DeMaio said. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police closed South Colony Road (Route 5) between Willard and McKenzie avenues for about four hours while officers reconstructed the accident. The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or had contact with Rodriguez in the hours before the crash to contact Officer Anthony Baur at 203-294-2817.
