WALLINGFORD — The Town Council has canceled its budget workshop Tuesday because no councilors had questions for any of the department heads scheduled to attend, town officials said.
The workshops, scheduled throughout April, give councilors a chance to question department heads about their budget requests and Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. on his proposed 2019-20 budget.
Town departments scheduled for Tuesday included Inland Wetlands, Planning and Zoning, Building, Risk, Insurance, Human Resources, Finance, as well as the Conservation Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, Pension, Capital Appropriations Reserve and Debt Service.
Upcoming workshops are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall council chambers.
Thursday: Police, Fire, Fire Marshal, Civil Preparedness
April 23: Animal Control, Health
April 25: Board of Education, Cafeteria, Youth & Social Services, Parks & Recreation
May 2: Economic Development Commission, Registrar of Voters, Wallingford Center Inc., Senior Center, Historic Program Match, Center Street Cemetery, Public Celebrations, Columbus House, Wallingford 2020 and the Spanish Community of Wallingford.
The council can make amendments to Dickinson's budget before voting to adopt a 2019-20 budget in May. If the council does not adopt an amended budget, the mayor's proposal will go into effect automatically.
