As a lifetime Meriden native, I love the City of Meriden and want to work as hard as I can to help make it a great place to live now and during the coming years!
It was an honor to serve as your city clerk for 24 years and I want to continue “serving” as your mayor! Prior to this, I served on the Board of Education for two years, was a member of the Tax Review Board, chairperson of the Maloney Scholarship Program and president of the New England Municipal Clerks Institute & Academy. I was also selected as the CT Town Clerk of the Year during my tenure as city clerk. It was also a great tribute to be selected and elected to the Meriden Hall of Fame.
During my public service career in Meriden, I always treated all citizens equally – regardless of their political party affiliation, their income level, their racial identity or their gender. Since they were and are “our citizens,” I felt it was my duty and responsibility to help them in any way possible.
My goals as the mayor of the City of Meriden, are as follows:
To accomplish the annual City Budget approvals with NO property tax increases to our citizens.
To provide an opportunity for all our citizens to express their preferences through public referendums, such as the cost of city capital projects.
Reinstate our former “Bulky Waste” program and support our “ongoing” Dog Park initiative.
I look forward to serving all the citizens of Meriden and ask you to elect me as “your” mayor when you go to vote this November 7th.
Irene Masse is the Republican candidate for mayor in Meriden.
