Remembering Wint

I have had the good fortune of knowing Wink Filipek Sr. At a young age I was exposed to his athletic ability on the tennis court and the golf course. Wint was the type of individual that would help you develop life skills related to what sports he had to offer. He was truly a competitive individual. He never lost sight of sportsmanship when he represented the sports he was involved in. To watch him play in the seniors doubles tournament with his former partner Walter at Hubbard Park was priceless. He definitely possessed a sense of humor in the heat of competition and was a great role model for the youth of Meriden. He was also a great family man that left us way to soon. Congratulations to the Filipek family and specifically Walt Sr. for being elected into the Meriden Hall of Fame.

Halloween event

The Wallingford Public Celebrations Committee and the Park and Recreation Department held their annual Halloween Celebration on Friday, October 27, 2017 in front of the Wallingford Town Hall. It was attended by a large number of children. The children participated in the haystack egg hunt, arts and crafts, dancing to the Halloween music and a parade. A photo booth was available. Donuts, cider, popcorn, cotton candy, and goodie bags were served. Our thanks to Jake Zielinski, Kim Larkin, Steve Nevard, Ted Zafiris, Gary Jackson, John Sullivan, Larry and Cheryl Russo, Louis Passariello, and Pat Reynolds. Many thanks to the Lyman Hall High School Key Club and Peer Advocates, the Park and Recreation Department, Wallingford Center Inc., the Wallingford Police Department, Public Works Department, and members of the Public Celebrations Committee.
