YOUTH FOOTBALL: Wojtusik propels Bears into championship game

Record-Journal

The Berlin Bears A team faced a tough and relentless East Hartford Hornets squad in an all-out battle.

In the end, the locals won the war.

Max Wojtusik provided three rushing touchdowns and returned the opening kickoff for a TD.  Jaden Sekoll also contributed to the scoring by making three of four two-point kicks.

Again, the offensive line of Ryan Aresimowicz, Jaden Sekoll, Jack Hartan, Jordan Middlebrooks and Sam Cultrea out-muscled the opposing D.

Meanwhile, the Bears’ “bend don’t break” team defense kept the Hornets’ high scoring offense in check.

Tanner Sparks intercepted a pass to end the first half.  Jon D’Amore, Darian Pothitay, Elijah Roberts, Daniel Koops, Jake Smalley, Hartan, Wojtusik, Nate Gonzalez and RJ Longo also made big defensive plays for the victors.

The Bears will face a familiar foe, the Simsbury Trojans, in the CTYFL championship Sunday at Sage Park. The title game is a rematch of the 2016 CTYFL championship tilt in which Berlin prevailed.
