Expos chased from Twilight tourney

MERIDEN — The Record-Journal Expos were eliminated from the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League tournament with an 11-2 loss Sunday night to People’s United Bank.

The Expos, who had been seeded No. 1 as the regular-season champ, finished the 2019 campaign at 20-7.

With the Expos gone, the Vernon Orioles are in even better position to defend their tournament title.

Unbeaten in the postseason, the Orioles will face the survivor of People’s United Bank and the East Hartford Jets in the finals, which play at Palmer Field in Middletown on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The “if” came will be Wednesday, also at Palmer at 7 p.m.
