MERIDEN – Brooke Lathe and Grace Anetrella powered Maloney girls volleyball to a season-opening sweep on Friday night.
The Spartans took out CCC South-Colonial foe Middletown by game scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17.
Lathe came through with eight kills and eight digs and Anetrella filled the stat sheet with three kills, seven aces and five digs.
Wilcox Tech 3, Prince Tech 0: The Tribe opened the 2018 campaign with a CTC sweep at home against the Falcons of Hartford.
Game scores were 25-7, 25-20 and 25-22.
The Indians were led by Chloe LaBissoniere, who totaled seven kills and two aces, and Victoria Logodicio, who finished with seven assists and nine aces.
Southington 3, Conard 0: The Blue Knights made it two wins in two nights to open the season.
Southington beat the Chieftains in a CCC West-Colonial contest in Southington by game scores of 26-24, 25-13 and 25-18.
Leading the way for the Knights were Haley Larrabee (9 kills, 3 aces), Brooke Cooney (8 kills, 4 aces), Lynsey Danko (13 digs), Kayli Garcia (6 kills) and Jenna Martin (5 kills, 11 digs).
Southington is 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the CCC West-Colonial. Conard is 0-1 overall and in the division.
Platt 3, Berlin 1: Caitlyn Hart registered 12 kills and 12 digs to lead the Panthers to a CCC South-Colonial victory over the Redcoats in Meriden.
Game scores were 25-17, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-21.
Other standouts for Platt in its season opener were Angel-Lee Hart (25 assists), Kallan Doyon (4 kills, 14 digs) and Lillian Montana (15 digs).
