TUESDAY GOLF: Bahre leads the way for Maloney; Southington suffers first setback

MERIDEN — The Maloney golf team improved to 3-2 Tuesday with a 220-262 CCC crossover win over Bloomfield at Hunter Golf Club.

Matt Bahre earned the medal for the Spartans with a 53. 

Nick Camera came in at 54 and Josh Farnsworth at 55. Ben Pierce rounded out the Maloney card with a 56.

Northwest Catholic 160, Southington 165: Southington’s Jake Napoli shared medalist honors with the Indians’ Justin Mathew and Bob LaChance in a CCC West contest at Wampanoag Country Club in West Hartford.

All three golfers shot 3-over-par 39’s.

Also carding for Southington were Max  Chubet (41), Shawn McKnerney (42), Austin Carta (43) and Colby Zegrzdyn (43).

The loss was the first of the season for the Blue Knights (3-1).

Plainville 216, Platt 266: The Panthers fell to 0-4 overall and in the CCC South with a divisional loss at Hawks Landing.

Jacob Deshaine was the medalist for the Blue Devils (3-0 overall, 3-0 CCC South).

Scoring for the Panthers were Clayton Bruenn (62), Nick Martin (66), Adam Mettica (68) and Refat Hossain (70).

On Monday, Platt fell 233-265 to New Britian on the par-35 front nine of Hunters Golf Club in heavy rain and wind.

Arthur Bell was the medalist for the Golden Hurricanes (1-2-1) with a 54.

Scorers for the Panthers in that match were Hossain (63), Bruenn (65), Martin (68) and Mettica (69).
