MERIDEN — The Wilcox Tech volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-0 Connecticut Technical Conference sweep of Windham Tech on Monday evening.
The Indians won by game scores of 25-9, 26-24 and 25-22.
Wilcox was overpowering from the service line. Madison Rios knocked down seven aces, Chloe LaBissoniere piled up six and Victoria Logodicio collected four.
Logodicio also dished seven assists. LaBissoniere was the force up front with two kills and two blocks. The pair added three digs apiece.
The match was the season opener for Windham Tech. The Indians return to action Wednesday when they host Norwich Tech.
Choate 3, Cheshire Academy 0: The Wild Boars swept the Cats 25-13, 25-11 and 25-15 in Wallingford in the season opener for both squads.
Sadhana Sankar paced Cheshire with 11 digs. Kamila Zygadlo had eight assists, two aces and a block. Mia Tougas added three kills and a block.Boys soccer
Wilcox Tech 3, Harding 0: The Indians opened their 2018 season with the non-conference victory in Bridgeport.
Wilcox got goals from Chris Aceves, Kelvin Cortez and Isaac Marks. Victor Ahuatsi set up two goals and Alex Cortez made five saves in net.Girls soccer
Miss Porter's 5, Cheshire Academy 0: The Cats fell to 0-2 with the loss to 2-0 Miss Porter’s in Farmington.
Bri Bavaro was busy in net, facing 22 shots and stopping 17 of them. Kayleen Procanik scored two goals to lead Miss Porter’s.
