WEDNESDAY VOLLEYBALL: Wilcox whips up a trifecta; LH slips after Sheehan win; Titans also fall in 5; Maloney rebounds

MERIDEN — Make it three up and three down — and three times in three sets — for the Wilcox Tech volleyball team.

The Indians completed their three-game homestand to open the season with a 3-0 victory Wednesday over Norwich Tech.

It was the third straight sweep for the Tribe, which vanquished its latest Connecticut Technical Conference opponent 25-15, 25-8 and 25-13.

Chloe LaBissoniere had another big game with nine kills and three blocks. And Yineiri Torres was once again a big factor with seven kills and three aces.

Madison Rios and Victoria Logodicio were both strong setting and serving. Rios collected 11 assists and six aces. Logodicio rang up eight assists and five aces.

West Haven 3, Lyman Hall 2: Looking to follow up on Tuesday’s win over rival Sheehan, the Trojans built a 2-1 lead before the Blue Devils rallied to snatch away the SCC crossover in Wallingford.

Every game was a battle. Scores were 25-22, 23-25, 24-26, 25-21 and 15-13.

Bria Stanley and Nancy Tapia each had 11 kills for the Westies.

Nicole Albert was a machine for LH. The senior dished 30 assists and served 20 points, including four aces.

Hailey Bruneau added 10 digs, nine kills and 14 service points for the Trojans. Alyssa Dodge had a team-high 10 kills.

Both teams came away at 1-1 overall.

Foran 3, Sheehan 2: The Titans twice erased one-game deficits before falling short on their home court.

Game scores in this SCC crossover were 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 23-25 and 15-9.

Jillian Montano directed the show for Foran, dealing 36 assists and eight aces. Briana Brassell racked up 13 kills and three blocks for the Lions (2-1).

Sheehan (0-2) got 15 digs from Emily Musso and eight kills and five blocks from Caitlyn Hunt. Sette Callie Sarracini had 22 assists.

Maloney 3, Berlin 1: The Spartans rebounded from Monday’s 3-0 non-conference loss to SMSA with the CCC South-Colonial victory over the Redcoats in Berlin.

Isabel Frazza and Laila Martinez were pillars on the back line with 17 digs apiece. Martinez also had a team-high 11 kills and six aces.

Setter Carly Massicotte dished out 27 assists as Maloney won by game scores of 25-22, 24-26, 25-22 and 25-18.

Platt 3, Middletown 1: The Panthers rallied from 25-23 loss in Game 1 to put away the Blue Dragons 25-15, 25-18 and 25-12 in a CCC South match late Monday in Middletown.

Caitlyn Hart had a team-high 10 digs and six kills. She also landed five aces.

Kallan Doyon and Niurka Felliciano also had five aces each as Platt put down 19 on the night.

Angel-Lee Hart handed out 18 assists. Doyon and Francis Ramirez contributed seven digs apiece. Aaliyah Burnley collected five kills.

Platt is now 2-0.

Southington 3, Hall 0: The Blue Knights improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the CCC West with the divisional win late Monday in West Hartford. Game scores were 25-20, 25-6 and 25-17.

Brooke Cooney led the offense with 11 kills. The defense was anchored by Lynsey Danko (13 digs), Jenna Martin (11) and Bella Myrick (10).

Katie Gundersen added eight kills and Kayli Garcia was good for seven. Era Pasha planted four aces.

Hall fell to 1-1 overall and in the CCC West.
