SOUTHINGTON — The Southington girls swim team signed off on the 2017 season setting two more program records at Saturday’s CIAC State Open at Yale.
Both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams lowered the school records they had established earlier in the week at the Class LL championshp meet at Wesleyan. The medley swam a 1:52.16 at the Open. The 200 free swam a 1:40.52.
Olivia Fournier and Julie Duszak were on both teams. They combined with Meghan Hammarlund and Maddie Symecko on the medley and with Gianna Perugini and Andie Nadeau on the 200 free.
Individually, Fournier finished 17th in the 50 free in 24.69 and 18th in the 100 free in 53.65.
WILLIMANTIC — Cheshire native Lizzy Cretella made the All-Tournament team for Eastern Connecticut State University in its home Tip-Off Tournament over the weekend.
Cretella, a St. Paul graduate, had a combined 39 points, 15 rebounds and four steals in losses to Trinity and SUNY-New Paltz. The sophomore guard made 15 of her 30 field goal attempts.
Cretella and the Warriors return to action Thursday, Nov. 30 at home against Amherst.
Advance tickets for Thursday’s Apple Classic football game between Southington and Cheshire are now on sale in the athletic departments at both schools.
Pre-game tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens. While tickets remain $5 for students and senior citizens at the gate, game-day prices for adults rise to $10.
Kickoff is 10 a.m. at Cheshire’s Alumni Field.
MERIDEN — Advance tickets for Thursday’s Stoddard Bowl between Platt and Maloney are still on sale at both high schools as well as at Lincoln and Washington Middle schools, Alan’s Cup’n Saucer and Katz’s Gloves.
Tickets purchased in advance are $6. All tickets on game day at $9. There will be no re-entry.
The Panthers and Spartans kick off at Falcon Field on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
