SOUTHINGTON — Led by a trio of double-winners, the Southington girls swimming team opened the season in dominant fashion Wednesday, capturing every event in beating Rocky Hill 93-66 in a CCC crossover meet at the Southington YMCA.
Senior Julie Duszak and sophomores Meghan Hammarlund and Andie Nadeau had two individual wins apiece for the Blue Knights. They also swam on a pair of first-place relays.
Sarah Meade also was a factor. The junior won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.83 and teamed with Duszak, Hammarlund and Gianna Perugini on the 200 medley relay (1:56.52) and then with Hammarlund, Nadeau and Maddie Symecko on the 400 freestyle relay (4:04.21).
Duszak, Perugini, Symecko and Nadeau combined to win the 200 free in 1:50.96.
Individually, Duszak captured the 50 free (25.70) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.57), while Hammarlund brought home the 100 free (57.57) and 200 IM (2:21.64).
Nadeau swept the distance freestyles, winning the 200 in 2:08.02 and the 500 in 5:47.41.

Wilcox Tech 2, Sacred Heart 1: The Indians improved to 2-0 with the victory over the Naugatuck Valley League Hearts at Waterbury’s Waterville Park.
Chris Aceves had both goals for Wilcox, scoring off assists from Kelvin Cortez and Isaac Marks. Both goals came in the first half.
At the other end, goalie Alex Cortez made five saves.
The win was the Tribe’s second straight over a non-conference opponent and it has Wilcox at 2-0 heading into Friday’s Connecticut Technical Conference opener against Wolcott Tech.Girls soccer
Williston Northampton 2, Cheshire Academy 0: The Cats fell to 0-3 with the loss in Western Mass.

Sheehan: Lizzie Brown returned to action for the Titans and prompty finished first in a SCC quad meet at Shelton with West Haven, Lauralton Hall and the host Gaels. Brown crossed in 20:36.
Ariana Amodio also had a strong showing for the Lady Titans, placing fourth in 23:00. Sydney Carim was seventh in 23:08.
The Sheehan went 2-1 on the day, off-setting a 26-31 loss to Shelton with wins over Lauralton Hall (20-36) and West Haven (15-50).
The boys went 1-2 in their half of the quad, beating West Haven 20-43, but falling to Shelton (16-47) and Fairfield Prep (20-37). Ethan Venoit (18:31) and Derrick Arnold (19:11) had the top times for Sheehan.
