MERIDEN – Recent Lyman Hall grad Alexandre Fishbein-Ouimette nabbed first place in the third leg of the Meriden Fun Run Series held on Wednesday at Platt High School.
Fishbein-Ouimette crossed the finish line of the three-mile race in 17:38.
Rounding out the Top 5 was Mike Perkowski (2nd, 21:54), Ben Neumon (3rd, 22:07), Jon Romeo (4th, 23:09) and Paul Baldini (5th, 24:01).
Allison Mangles was the top female finisher. She was eighth overall with a time of 27:06.
The Meriden Fun Run Series continues through the summer every Wednesday night at Platt starting at 6:30 p.m.
WALLINGFORD – The quartet of John Prior, Paul Lacate and John and Terry Payne combined to win first place in gross play with a 147 this week at the Wallingford Country Club Member Guest.
Don George, Carl Nowik, Franco Alfano and Bob Ugolik collected were second, also with a 147. Todd Tremaglio, Gary Jackson, Lenny Tremaglio and Dick Jackson were third with a 150.
In net play, Pete Romano, John Lewinski, Mike Schaub and Holly Miller were tops with a 116. They were follow by the team’s of Jim Mueller, Mike Fox, Mary Ryan and Jay Difronzo and Steve Keene, Mark Caralasha, Doug Culp and Aaron Baston, who each totaled matching 122’s.
WALLINGFORD - AirOcean Aviation LLC will be doing a fly-over and dropping numbered golf balls from 50 to 75 feet in the air onto the 18th fairway at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the Farms Country Club. Proceeds from the drop will be donated to the Quinnipiac Business Education Foundation. The three closest balls to the pin win raffle prizes.

MERIDEN – The Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA and Meriden Rotary Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 7 at the Wallingford Country Club as well as the Surf & Turf Dinner and Kids' Picnic at the YMCA Mountain Mist Outdoor Center. The golf outing on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Hunter Golf Club at 12:30 p.m. will benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. The Entry fee $130 includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner and a raffle entry.
