CHESHIRE - Storm clouds loomed overhead, and it was drizzling slightly, but the weather made no difference to the campers at Camp Quinnetukit. Even as the drizzle escalated into pouring rain on a recent afternoon, their outlook remained sunny.
"Despite the rain we try to make the best of it. They still have fun because it's been so hot lately. The rain is a nice change of pace," said Rachel O'Leary, site director for Camp Quinnetukit, one of four camps organized by the Cheshire Park and Recreation Department that run all summer long.
"They have positive attitudes," O'Leary said.
Park and Recreation organizes camps and activities ranging from sports camps to a summer school program. This year, the department split Mixville's Camp Sassacus, and Bartlem Park's Camp Quinnetukit into two sections, the traditional camp for first- through fourth-graders and the "adventure" camp for fifth- and sixth-graders.
