Congratulations Specialist Montemurro


Specialist Joseph R. Montemurro recently graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif., this past October 2013. Prior to DLI, Joseph completed his basic training course over a 10 week period at Fort Jackson, S.C. in March 2012. At the DLI, Joseph completed a very intensive Korean language course over a 75 week period that included becoming proficient in reading, writing and speaking Korean, physical fitness and core Army values, principles and skills. Service members who successfully pass the Defense Language Proficiency Test are eligible to receive college credits towards an associate degree in the language of their study as Joseph has done.

Joseph graduated from Central Connecticut State University in June 2011 with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and minored in Japanese. After graduating from the Defense Language Institute, Joseph is currently undergoing further training as a cryptologic linguist at Goodfellow Airforce Base in San Angelo, Texas.

Joseph is the son of Stephen and Theresa Montemurro, of Meriden and is a 2011 graduate of Maloney High School.
