American Gymnastics

New Years Invitational


American Gymnastics athletes of Plantsville, attended the New Years Invitational in Westfeild, Mass., Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10. The Girls Team, coached by Katie Atkins, Maria Alejandro, Kim Vaillancourt performed amazingly and came out on top with nine Individual All-Around winners (golds); Riley O’Hanlon Level 9, Sophie Gessman Level 7, Moe Gessman Level 4, Megan Crean Level 4, Katherine Dreschler Level 4, Maisyn Rader Level 3, Amanda Pernerewski Level 3, Samantha Nowak Xcel Silver, and Lauren Turner Xcel Silver. American’s Girls Level 3, 4 and Xcel Silver also took home First Place Team titles. The Boys team, coached by Chris Casso and Eric Ouellette, also had an excellent competition with First Place Team at Level 4, 6, and 8. Individually they placed very well with Alex Rosania, Level 4, Justin Valencourt, Level 4, Nicolas Smith, Level 5, Andrew D’Agostino, Level 6, Chase Galayda, Level 6, Matthew Cormier, Level 8, and Nathan Hughes, Level 9, all winning their respective age group all around. They are very proud of everyone’s performance and look forward to the rest of the competition season.
