Wallingford police respond to shots fired

WALLINGFORD—Reports of gun shots Saturday night prompted a police response to a single-family home on South Branford Road, Police Lt. Glen King said Sunday.

Police responded to 56 S. Branford Road at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, and remained on scene until about 4 a.m. Sunday morning, King said. A man reportedly “fired a shotgun out of the back door twice,” King said. There were no injuries, he added, “and the situation was resolved.”

The man who reportedly fired the shots could not be named by police, and was sent to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation, King said. There was limited information available on the incident, King said, because he was only quickly briefed on the situation Sunday morning.
