SOUTHINGTON - The first ever Stuff a Cruiser toy drive last weekend by the police department was a huge success as resident filled 11 cruisers with toys to help local families in need.

The department was very appreciative for everyone who came out on Saturday to make a donation.

The decision to hold the drive came after an unfortunate Christmas Eve crime officers responded to last year when thieves stole a families presents on Christmas Eve. Officers collected money amongst themselves to make sure the children at the home would still have a good Christmas.

Officer Michael Kahn wanted to keep the Christmas spirit that moved them last year alive and organized the toy drive.

Pictures from the event can be seen on the Southington Police Department Facebook page.

Welcome to the discussion.
