MERIDEN - Police have charged a former city strip club owner with tampering with witnesses after detectives said they learned that he had instructed his employees with how to respond if they were questioned by police.

Detectives took David Henderson into custody overnight Sunday into Monday on one charge of tampering with a witness. Henderson, 49, of 22 Lake Road in Middlefield, has been in court multiple times since his arrest on Jan. 11, 2009 when police charged him with several charges including promoting prostitution and violations of the corrupt organizations and racketeering act.

David Henderson and his brother Daniel Henderson, 45, are the former owners of the 2041 Club on North Broad Street.

Henderson has denied criminal activity in the past and said he was unaware of the prostitution activities being done by several of his employees.

Police said Henderson made bond and would be scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court for arraignment after the New Year.
