A storm brewing along the eastern coast has led some residents to talk of a big snowfall, perhaps as much as 10 inches, Saturday into Sunday.

The chances of that according to the Western Connecticut State University Weather Center? Not very likely.

Weather forecasts from WCSU are calling for light flurries or snowfall overnight Saturday into Sunday, but placed a less than 20 percent chance of any heavy accumulation.

On Friday, high pressure will bring mostly sunny skies across the region with light winds and chilly temperatures as highs range from the teens in northern areas to the lower 30s in southern sections.

An area of low pressure along the southeast coast will be trying to lift northward up the eastern seaboard over the weekend with increasing cloudiness on Saturday and then the chance for some light snow or flurries Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Welcome to the discussion.
