A public hearing on adult oriented business regulations will be held in early May just days after an anti-pornography rally takes place at a local church. The two dates are coincidental but point to the on-going activity surrounding the opening of the VIP adult boutique on Queen Street.
Members of Concerned Citizens for a Pornography Free Southington have organized what they call an educational event on May 1. The free event will feature speakers affiliated with the National Coalition for the Defense of Children and Families and the Long Island Citizens for Community Values.
On May 4, the Planning and Zoning Commission intends to call a public hearing on their review of the town's zoning regulations for adult oriented businesses. The date is not finalized because a three-member moratorium committee may not have finished their review of the regulations. The moratorium expires in late June. They held their first meeting in late January.

What a bunch of losers. The clothing sold at VIP is no different than the clothing sold at Victoria's Secret. The adult-oriented gag gifts are no different than what's sold at Spencer's at the Meriden Square Mall. The only difference is VIP sells DVDs and the other 2 don't. Concern for the children? Bull. You have to be 18 to get into VIP. What children anyway? The ones that live in the condos next to Walmart? It's not likely they'd cross Queen Street anyway.
