NEW BRITAIN - The Hurricanes beat the Southington Blue Knights 14-6 in the first Powder Puff match between the two high schools.

New Britain scored on its first drive of the game and never gave up the lead. Southington was able to score late in the fourth quarter and had a chance at the end but fell just short.

Both coaches were thoroughly happy with how the game was played. Coach Carlos Pina of the Hurricanes said he hopes tonight marks the beginning of a new tradition for each school.
