CHESHIRE - The Department of Correction has recommended closing Webster Correctional Institution on Jarvis Street, according to a press release from Governor M. Jodi Rell.

Webster has around 220 inmates and is a minimum security prison. Closing it could save $3.4 million a year.

The closure would not mean laying off any department staff, according to the governor.

Welcome to the discussion.
