Meriden home damaged by fire

MERIDEN — No one was injures after a fire heavily damaged a home on Steuben Street early Saturday morning.

Firefighters responded about 12:15 a.m. to a call from a neighbor for a fire on 57 Steuben St.

Assistant Chief Russ Donovan said the colonial style home had heavy fire when firefighters arrived on scene. Residents who live in the house were not home at the time of the fire, he said.

The home sustained heavy damage on the first and second floors, Donovan said, but firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
