AAA driving course with city police is next week

MERIDEN — The police department will host a driving course offered through AAA next week.

The course, which covers the basics of defensive driving, will be held at the police station on June 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Drivers who complete the program are eligible for insurance discounts. The class is free to current AAA members, and costs $20 for non-members.

“Our program is aimed at drivers with several years of experience who wish to improve or refresh their driving skills,” said Fran Mayko, AAA driving improvement program coordinator.

Those who complete the AAA class on June 7 will receive a certificate at the end of the course. To register, go to www.aaa.com/driverimprovement .
