Meriden police investigate reports of shots fired on Bunker Avenue

MERIDEN — Police are investigating after residents reported hearing gunshots in the Bunker Avenue area Monday night and officers found a shell casing.

The reports came from the area of Bunker Avenue between Putnam and Broad streets, according to Sgt. Darrin McKay, police spokesman. A couple of vehicles were seen by residents leaving the area, and police got descriptions of the cars, McKay said. Officers searched the area and found one .40 caliber shell casing.

Area hospitals did not report anyone seeking treatment for a gunshot wound Monday night.

Police will be canvassing the neighborhood hoping to learn more, McKay said.
