MERIDEN — A city man faces charges after police say he was caught selling drugs out of his apartment.
Santos Chappell, 39, of 40 Cedar St. was arrested Wednesday on numerous charges including operating a drug factory and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
Sgt. Darrin McKay, police spokesman, said detectives received an anonymous tip about a man selling drugs out of an apartment. Officers set up surveillance on the apartment and recognized a man coming out as Chappell, McKay said. When officers approached Chappell, he was very cooperative and admitted to selling drugs before consenting to a search of the apartment, McKay said.
Police found 72 bags of heroin weighing approximately 26 grams, 22 small bags of marijuana weighing approximately 16 grams, one large bag of marijuana weighing approximately 15 grams, more than $3,500 in cash and 58 various pills including Oxycodone, morphine and Adderall, according to court documents.
Santos was held in lieu of $150,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Sept. 25.
