MERIDEN — Two residents remain hospitalized after police say a motorcycle collided with a Jeep on Broad Street Tuesday night.
Omar Luciano, 41, of Meriden, was driving the Kawasaki motorcycle when it was struck. Michele Riopedie, of Meriden, was a passenger on the motorcycle. Neither were wearing a helmet, police say. Christopher Alix was driving a 1996 Jeep that him them.
At about 7 p.m., Luciano and Riopedie were driving south on Broad street behind a car trying to turn left into the Meriden Health Center parking lot, police said. Alix was driving in the opposing direction on Broad Street.
Luciano passed the car on the right-hand side and collided with Alix, who was trying to make a left-hand turn onto Yale Acres Road. Luciano hit the windshield of the Jeep and Riopedie was thrown from the motorcycle, landing in the road, police said.
The two were taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life-threatening head and chest injuries, according to police.
Alix was not injured, police said.
The accident remains under investigation.
