BERLIN — A guide to the candidates for Town Council, as listed on the ballot.

JoAnn Angelico-Stetson (D)

Age: 56

Occupation: Legal Administrator with the law firm of Chadwick & Stone, LLP

Education: Wethersfield High School, Central Connecticut State University

Prior political experience: Currently on the Board of Education, Economic Development Commission, and served as a Representative of the 6th District of the Democratic State Central Committee

Platform: Continually strive to improve the quality of life for Berlin residents and families

Family: 3 children, expecting grandsons (twin boys) in February

Community involvement: Justice of the Peace

Brenden Luddy (R)

Age: 51

Occupation: Chief Estimator for The MacKenzie Company, LLC

Education: BHS alum, Bachelors in Graphic Design Central Connecticut State University

Prior political experience: Town councilor for two terms (four years)

Platform: In these trying times in Connecticut, to try to hold the line on spending and minimize tax increases

Family: married, two children

Community involvement: Volunteer for little league, assistant Boy Scout leader

Peter Rosso (D)

Age: 68

Occupation: retired from the state of Connecticut

Education: BHS, attended Central Connecticut State College.

Prior political experience: Elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 1976 and served three terms as a state representative, served on the education, environment, transportation, and labor committees. Elected as an assistant majority leader in last term. Appointed to the Berlin Town Council on April 1st 2014 Platform: Three core values that have been sorely lacking in town government, these values are civility, honesty and integrity.

Family: Married to the former Laurel Lavorgna, two children, and two grandsons

Community involvement: Served as a little league coach, chaired two all night graduation parties for Berlin High, served on three Charter revision committees, served on the original drug action committee and the Berlin Peck Library construction committee.

Amy Maier Daniele (R)

Age: 42

Occupation: Pharmacist

Education: Bachelors

Prior political experience: None

Platform: Fiscally conservative.

Family: Married. 2 children.

Community involvement: BYSA girls soccer coach for 6 years. Co-Leader of Brownies. Volunteer CCD teacher.

Karen Pagliaro (D)

Age: 59

Occupation: Registered Nurse, Director of Community & Government Relations at Hartford Healthcare at Home

Education: Newington High School, UConn, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Prior political experience: none

Platform: Work to put the best interests of the town and its citizens first.

Family: married for 36 years to Eric Cope. Two sons. Three Golden Retrievers.

Community involvement: past member of the Junior Woman’s Club of Berlin 1991 through 2011, President for two terms and voted Outstanding Member; Community Upbeat member; Commissioner: Berlin Conservation Commission since 2011, Community Garden Coordinator 2015 to present (for the Conservation Commission) Community Foundation of Greater New Britain: member of Dr Lorraine G. Spranzo Scholarship Selection Committee

Alex Giannone (R)

Age: 33

Occupation: CT State Police Sergeant, attorney

Education: Farmington High School, Northeastern University Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice, Uconn Law School Juris Doctor

Prior political experience: alternate Planning and Zoning since March

Platform: My highest priority and long term goal is to lower taxes

Family: Married to Beth for 7 years. Two children, one dog.

Community involvement: Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run (2008-2011)

Charles Paonessa (R)

Age: 64

Occupation: Contractor in the Heavy Construction Industry

Education: Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Hartford State Technical College 1973

Prior political experience: Serving second term on the Berlin Town Council

Platform: Fiscal responsibility is more important now than ever, because of the lack of leadership at the State level.

Family: Married to Lecia Paonessa. Four sons and nine grandchildren

Community involvement: Currently the President of the Board of Directors for the ReCONNstruction Center in Newington, involvement with Troop 44 Boy Scouts in Berlin, supporter and contributor of the Berlin UpBeat program
