The Barnes Museum and The Southington Orchard Valley Garden Club will host a Pumpkin Carving Contest on the grounds of the museum, 85 N. Main St., Southington from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, the first Saturday of the Southington Apple Harvest Festival. Festival Fairgoers will determine the winners by People’s Choice balloting.
All completed carved pumpkin entries should be brought to the Barnes Museum on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29, from 1 to 5 p.m., and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30. All pumpkins must be on the grounds to begin the open judging by 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.
Entry forms may be filled out upon arrival or ahead of time as they will be available at the Barnes Museum, the Southington Public Library or at SoCCA.
Entry fee for adults and children under 12 are free. Adult prizes for first place, second place and third place. Children will receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons and free ice cream certificates donated by Pat’s Ice Cream on Main Street. Winners need not be present.
