The Summer Campership fund for Meriden and Wallingford received $3,410 in the fifth week for a total of $28,355 towards the $62,000 goal. The following donations were received: Sally Shernow, $65; Christopher and Abby Beale, $650; Paulette and John Zajac, $130; The Dan G. Naimoli Foundation, $260; Jack and Cathie Hubball, $130; Gladys and Marvin Beloff, $130; Nancy Squire, $130; Charity Club of Meriden, $130; Mary and Norman Willmott, $25; Liberty Bank, $1,500; The Bradley Home Resident Council, $130; In loving memory of Jack Benigni, $130.
Awards will be made to 460 children at $130 per camper for a two week session at a local non-profit camp and an additional 30 kids for one week at $65.
Participating camps this year are Meriden YMCA, Boys and Girls Club of Meriden, Girls, Inc., Wallingford YMCA, the Salvation Army and the Ulbrich Boys and Girls Club.
All money raised goes directly to fund camperships.
Applications for campership awards have been distributed in Meriden and Wallingford schools. Applications and proof of family income must be brought directly to the organization running the camp.
Families applying must submit a DSS budget sheet or a completed 2016 tax form. For more information contact Meriden Health and Human Services at www. meridenhealth.com. Camperships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis.
