Why a film crew was at J. Timothy’s Taverne in Plainville on Monday

PLAINVILLE — A film crew took over J. Timothy’s Taverne Monday afternoon as the Travel Channel shot scenes for a future episode of Food Paradise.

“We’re pretty excited,” said Tim Adams, co-owner of J. Timothy’s Taverne, 143 New Britain Ave.

The restaurant, known for its wings, has been featured in several different media outlets including Food Network, Buzzfeed and Thrillist.

The Travel Channel show Food Paradise focuses on “must-stop” establishments offering unique dining experiences across the country.

The show is in its eighth season and has included food destinations from Hawaii to Virginia.

“We try to cover the United States and the great food out there and the people who make the food,” said Sean O’Malley, the shows executive producer.

The Travel Channel couldn’t reveal what the episode will be about or what food will be featured, however, O’Malley said the show finds restaurants to feature through requests and research.

“Food Paradise is all about finding great food,” he said.

Before filming began, the restaurant posted on social media asking for people to stop by during the filming.

“Bring your friends/family, they want to feature people having fun!” said a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page Monday morning. “Lights, camera, action!”

The crew filmed throughout the afternoon with interior and exterior shots of the restaurant as well as interviews with the owners, staff and customers.

“Thank you Plainville, thank you our customers,” said Jim Welch, co-owner of J. Timothy’s Taverne. “Look forward to seeing us on the Travel Channel.”
