This weekend features a variety of events, including the semi-annual Mayor’s Community Clean-Up Day in Meriden, a benefit concert for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico, a town-wide tag sale in Southington and a Bhangra dance performance in Cheshire. MERIDEN

Pancake breakfast

When: 7:30- 10 a.m. Saturday

Where: St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave.

Description: Pancakes, eggs, sausage and coffee offered. Tickets sold at the door. Children 5 and under eat free. Apple fritters available for purchase.

Meriden Farmers Market

When: 8:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday

Where: Meriden Green, Pratt and State streets

Description: The market will be open rain or shine Saturdays through Oct. 21. The market features produce from local farmers, specialty food vendors, on-site food preparation and non-food vendors.

Mayor’s Community Clean-Up Day

When: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday

Where: City Hall, 142 E. Main St.

Description: Volunteers will be assigned to neighborhoods throughout the city. Residents, students, businesses and service clubs are invited. Light lunch to be served after the event.

WALLINGFORD

Haunted and Historic paranormal presentation

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: The Library Wine Bar and Bistro, 60 N. Main St.

Description: Connecticut Spirit Investigators will present the finding of investigations of the Nehemiah Royce House and the Franklin Johnson Mansion. They will also answer your questions and talk about some of their other paranormal investigations.

Northeast Guitar Expo

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

Where: Oakdale Theatre, 95 S. Turnpike Road

Description: The expo offers all types of guitars and access to instrument builders, dealers and manufacturers. Admission $10, cash only.

Leonard Bernstein concert

When: 2-5 p.m. Sunday

Where: Paul Mellon Arts Center, 333 Christian St.

Description: The Wallingford Symphony Orchestra will play selections of Leonard Bernstein’s music in honor of the composer/conductor’s 100th birthday next year. Tickets $25, more information at www.wallingfordsymphony.org.

Puerto Rico benefit concert

When: 6 p.m. Sunday

Where: New Life Church, 350 High Hill Road

Description: “Help Heal Puerto Rico” will feature religious and secular music, including jazz, rock/funk and salsa. Free admission, donations accepted for Hurricane Maria relief.

Town-wide tag sale

When: Saturday, rain date Sunday

Where: Various businesses and organizations in town

Description: The Arc of Southington will host a town-wide tag sale, hours vary for each place. Purchase a listings map for $1 at the Arc of Southington office, 201 W. Main St., Plantsville, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, or at Tops Supermarket, 887 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike, Southington, through Saturday. CHESHIRE

Bhangra dance performance

When: 2-3 p.m. Saturday

Where: Cheshire Public Library, 104 Main St.

Description: Yale Jashan is a cultural dance troop that celebrates the South Asian dance known as bhangra. The library will host a bhangra performance and a lesson. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cheshire Public Library.
